Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have been bolstered by the return of their vice-captain, Nitish Rana, to the side for their campaign in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024).

Rana's arrival will certainly bolster the batting line-up of the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the league. KKR have so far performed brilliantly under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer in the ongoing IPL 2024, as they have won three out of the four games they've played in the tournament.

With six points, KKR nicely sits in the second spot in the IPL 2024 points table. Meanwhile, Nitish Rana has been out of action since KKR’s opening match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Eden Gardens in the tournament.

Nitish Rana missed out on KKR's last three games

Unfortunately, the KKR vice-captain sustained an injury during that game, forcing him to miss subsequent matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC), as well as the solitary loss to Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Actually, Rana injured his hand while fielding in the second inning and left the field. He had struggled with the bat against SRH, scoring only nine runs from eleven balls before departing.

Since then, the star batter has been sidelined from the playing XI for KKR in their subsequent matches. However, there wasn’t any official update from the KKR camp about Rana’s absence from the playing XI, but it is being said that he had injured his finger, which kept him out of action.

Nitish Rana had fractured his finger

A source close to the developments told Khel Now that Nitish Rana had fractured his finger, and that’s why he was sidelined. However, he has now recovered from the injury and has rejoined the KKR camp ahead of their next IPL 2024 game against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

A source was quoted as saying by Khel Now: “Nitish Rana had fractured his finger. He joined KKR camp in Kolkata yesterday, 9th April.”

Well, it remains to be seen whether Rana will get a chance in KKR’s next IPL 2024 match, but it is a big relief for the franchise, as they would like to extend their winning streak in the tournament. KKR will host the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their next IPL 2024 game on April 14 at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

On April 8, KKR suffered their first defeat of the season when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) hammered the Purple Army by 7 wickets at the Chepauk Stadium riding on Ruturaj Gaikwad’s impressive fifty.

In this match, CSK bowlers made KKR batters' life hell, as only the skipper Shreyas Iyer (34), Sunil Narine (27), and Angkrish Raghuvanshi (24) could cross the 20+ mark against Chennai. Tushar Deshpande and Ravindra Jadeja starred with the ball, as the duo finished with three wickets against KKR.

Chasing a paltry 138 for the win, Ruturaj Gaikwad single-handedly took CSK over the line inside 18 overs. The skipper played a praiseworthy knock of unbeaten 67 off 58 balls laced with nine fours against KKR.
