IPL Points Table 2024: Orange Cap, Purple Cap List After CSK vs KKR, Match 22

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) came up with an all-round performance to thrash Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets in the 22nd match of the ongoing IPL 2024.
Chasing 138, the five-time IPL champions crossed the finishing line in the 18th over to return to winning ways after losing their last two games. CSK were off to a poor start as their opener Rachin Ravindra was dismissed for 15 by Vaibhav Arora in the fourth over. However, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored an unbeaten 67 and remained till the end to take his team home.
He shared a crucial 70-run stand with Daryl Mitchell for the second wicket. Sunil Narine broke the stand by dismissing Mitchell for 25 runs in the 13th over. Gaikwad and Shivam Dube then all but sealed the game for their side by adding 38 runs for the third wicket. With just three runs remaining, Dube was dismissed by Arora for 18 before Gaikwad and MS Dhoni took CSK home.
Earlier in the game, Ruturaj Gaikwad's decision to bowl first was totally justified by the CSK bowlers as they restricted KKR to a modest 137/9. Having scored 208, 186, and 272 runs in their last three games, KKR could not really manage to get into the groove against CSK.
Tushar Deshpande dismissed Phil Salt for a duck on the first ball of the game before Sunil Narine and Angkrish Raghuvanshi added 56 runs for the second wicket. And once Ravindra Jadeja dismissed both the batters in the seventh over to reduce KKR to 60 for 3, the two-time champions just could not bounce back.
They kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Even the likes of Rinku Singh (9) and Andre Russell (10) could not bail the team out of trouble. Captain Shreyas Iyer top-scored for his side, scoring 34, and was the only KKR batsman who managed to score more than 25 runs. For CSK, Jadeja and Deshpande starred with the ball, taking three wickets each.

KKR are still at the second spot in the points table with 3 wins from four games. On the other hand, CSK are in the fourth spot. Rajasthan Royals are currently at the top with four wins from as many games.
