Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami kicked aside as Trent Boult names his best new ball bowler

Rajasthan Royals pacer Trent Boult has picked up five wickets from six games in IPL 2024 so far. His best performance came against his former franchise Mumbai Indians against whom he picked up three wickets for 22 runs.

He will be a part of the playing XI when Rajasthan Royals takes on Punjab Kings on Saturday at the Mullanpur stadium. The Royals lost their previous game against Gujarat Titans in Jaipur as they chased down 199 and won off the last ball.

That was the first loss for the Rajasthan Royals in this edition of the IPL. Despite the loss, they are topping the points table with four wins from five games. Now they will play a series of away games and winning them will be a test.

Meanwhile, Boult and Jos Buttler had a light-hearted interaction on the Rajasthan Royals' official Twitter handle where they asked each other all sorts of questions. Shahrukh Khan and Yuzvendra Chahal made special mention of Buttler on the show.

Trent Boult had an interesting response to one of the questions thrown at him by Buttler. Buttler asked Boult "Who's the greatest new-ball bowler (in all forms of cricket"). Boult responded saying " I kind of want to throw it to (a brand new cherry) to Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Boult's response was surprising enough as he sidelined the likes of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami and picked Bhuvi as his choice who is not a part of the current Indian team across formats.

Bumrah on the other hand, took 19 wickets in the Test series against England and led the Purple Cap race of IPL 2024 with 10 wickets from five games.

Talking about Bhuvneshwar Kumar, he has picked up 63 wickets from 21 Test matches, 141 wickets from 121 matches, and 90 T20I wickets from 87 matches. He also has 173 IPL wickets to his name. The list is led by Yuzvendra Chahal who has 197 IPL wickets. This season, he has picked up 10 wickets from five games.

Jos Buttler made some interesting revelations saying that he would want Shahrukh Khan to play his biopic and that he could watch the popular series "Friends" on binge-watch. He further said that he admires Virat Kohli's cover drive who was incidentally the 100th IPL wicket for Trent Boult.

Meanwhile, Sanju Samson was a dejected captain after the Royals lost their first game of the season. Some poor death bowling allowed the Gujarat Titans to chase down 108 off the last 8 overs.

Avesh Khan came into bowl the final over with the Royals penalized for slow over rate and they had to bring a fielder inside the circle.

"Very hard to speak at the moment. The hardest job in the tournament is when a captain loses the game and has to tell where the game was lost. When the emotions come down I'll be able to tell clearly. Have to give credit to the Gujarat Titans."

"That's the beauty of this tournament. Will have to learn and move on. While I was batting I thought something around 180 would've been a fighting score. 196 was a winning score I thought. With no dew, our bowling lineup should've done it. It wasn't easy to go hard at the start of the innings. 197 at Jaipur, without dew, we'll take it any day" said Samson after the game.

The Royals now play a series of away games starting with the match against Punjab Kings on Saturday.
