Jasprit Bumrah placed above MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli in IPL superstars list by Harbhajan Singh

Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who has also been teammates with senior India pacer Jasprit Bumrah, thinks that the latter is the superstar of the Indian Premier League, Harbhajan, who won the IPL thrice with MI in 2013, 2015, and 2017, applauded Bumrah for the way he bowled last night against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru during Mumbai's 5th league match of IPL 2024. The right-arm pacer scalped his second-best figures of the season and was also adjudged as man of the match.

After Hardik Pandya had won the toss and asked RCB to bat first, Jasprit Bumrah got into the act very quickly. After the first two overs from Mohammad Nabi and Gerald Coetzee, Bumrah got rid of the danger man and the man in the form of Virat Kohli for just 3 runs in only his 3rd ball of the match.

Then after Akash Madhwal removed Will Jacks, Coetzee removed Patidar and Glenn Maxwell was sent packing by Shreyas Gopal, Jasprit Bumrah removed another man in form Faf du Plessis for 61 runs off just 40 deliveries. He would then clean up the stumps of Mahipal Lomror to send him for a golden duck and then claimed Saurav Chauhan and Vyshak Vijay Kumar in the very next ball. That helped him scalped figures of 5/21 from all 4 overs with RCB restricted to 197.

Harbhajan Singh says Jasprit Bumrah will go back and reassess himself

While speaking to Star Sports after the match, Harbhajan Singh claimed that Jasprit Bumrah will not be satisfied just yet and that he will go back and watch his videos again to identify an area to improve. Harbhajan Singh also stated that Bumrah has been a great learner of the game, that he tries to grasp something new every day, and that there is not a single bowler better than him in pressure moments.

"To see him bowl from day one and today, there's a huge difference. He's been a great learner of the game. He wants to learn every day, even if he got five wickets today, he'll go back and tomorrow, he'll see the videos of himself and see where he can improve. When it comes to pressure situations, no one does it better than what he does," Harbhajan Singh said via Star Sports.

Speaking ahead, Harbhajan stated that since T20 cricket is a batsman's game, bowlers don't often get that much credit. However, Harbhajan made sure to give Jasprit Bumrah his flowers by remarking that the Gujarat-based cricketer is actually the superstar of the game and that on his day, he can help his team win games as if he is taking a walk in the park. Harbhajan then asked the number of batters that influence the game like Bumrah does.

"People often talk about Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni because it's a batter's game. But if you talk about the superstars of the game, he's by far I think, the superstar of the IPL. He wins games on his day, like nothing. So how many batters have done that?" Harbhajan concluded.
