KKR register second biggest score in IPL history as Sunil Narine destroys DC

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), on Wednesday (April 3), registered their highest-ever score in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as they posted a mammoth total of 272/2 against Delhi Capitals in the 16th game of IPL 2024.
KKR captain Shreyas Iyer opted to bat first after winning the toss and his decision was totally justified by his teammates. Sunil Narine and Phil Salt added 60 runs for the first wicket in less than five overs before the latter was sent back by Anrich Nortje for 18.
It was followed by a 104-run stand between Narine and debutant Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Narine top-scored for the two-time IPL champions, scoring 85 off just 39 balls with the help of seven sixes and as many fours. On the other hand, Raghuvanshi scored 54 off 27 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes. Andre Russell also played a crucial knock of 41 from 19 balls before Rinku Singh came up with an impressive cameo of 25 runs from 8 balls.
KKR post their highest IPL total:
KKR eventually finished their innings on 272/7 to register their highest-ever total in the IPL. Their previous highest total in the tournament was 245/6 and they scored against Punjab Kings in 2018. They fell short of the highest-ever IPL score by just 5 runs. Earlier this season, Sunrisers Hyderabad scored 277/3 against Mumbai Indians to break Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s record.

During the same game, KKR also broke their record for most sixes in an IPL innings. They hit 18 sixes against DC, one more than their previous record that they created against Chennai Super Kings and Punjab Kings in 2018 and 2019 respectively.

Talking about KKR’s performance in IPL 2024 so far, they have started their campaign with two wins. In the first game, they beat Sunrisers Hyderabad before getting the better of RCB in their second game.
