Mayank Yadav openly says that he has no intentions of becoming the world's fastest bowler

How many players have performed like Mayank Yadav in their debut IPL match? It will be hard to pick out names who have had an equal amount of impact as him on debut at the World’s richest cricketing league. After his splendid first outing for the North-Indian franchise Lucknow Super Giants, a night ago, Mayank claims that, despite having such a raw pace, becoming the fastest bowler around is not on his agenda.
Now that’s a huge statement to make for a bowler who is so young and who possibly has a very long way to go in his career. It’s good that Mayank Yadav isn’t too worried or focused about becoming the fastest, otherwise he will be in line to become the next Umran Malik of Indian cricket. But that’s not the reason behind his choice. The actual reason behind it is that Mayank wants to be the best bowler.
And to become the best bowler in the world, Mayank Yadav knows that his pace solely won’t be making any difference. He is aware, that to become the best at what he does, he will have to ensure that his line length – the most important thing in bowling, remains consistent. Plus, he also needs to make sure that his arsenal contains varieties like the slower one, maybe the knuckleball, off & leg cutter, and so on.

Mayank Yadav says he will become the best if he concedes fewer runs
While speaking exclusively to Times of India following his dreamy debut, Mayank Yadav revealed what it will take for him to turn out as the best bowler in the world. He knows that none of his variations or his line length will prove effective if he doesn’t pick up wickets or maintain a cheap economy rate.
Both of these things were ticked on his debut match against Punjab Kings. Mayank Yadav registered 3 important wickets of Jonny Bairstow (42), Shikhar Dhawan (70), and Jitesh Sharma (6) at an impressive economy rate of 6.75. He told TOI that he must be able to concede as less runs as he can and remain consistent with his line length and believes that his pace is an added benefit that will back his other qualities.
“I never wanted to become the world’s fastest bowler. I never dreamt of that. I don’t want to become the world’s fastest bowler. I just want to be the world’s best bowler. I just want to concede fewer runs and remain consistent with my performance. Pace is a plus point for me. There are other things like line, length, and where to hit the ball. Pace just backs those areas.” – Mayank told TOI.

A stiff challenge awaits Mayank Yadav as he will visit bowlers’ nightmare Chinnaswamy up next
Meanwhile, after a splendid man-of-the-match-winning performance on his debut, Mayank Yadav will be posed with a stiff challenge when he visits the M. Chinnaswamy stadium up next. The home ground of RCB is considered as a nightmare for bowlers or a graveyard as they say and maintaining his line-length over there will be a big task for him.
