Paramjit Singh, MS Dhoni‘s long-time friend, has delivered a huge update on the cricketer’s future as a player in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Speculations have been rife about the veteran cricketer’s future in the IPL ever since he announced his retirement from international cricket in 2020.
It was widely expected that MS Dhoni would retire from IPL after the 2020 edition. However, the former India captain famously said ‘definitely not’ on his retirement question and went on to play the next three seasons as well.
Many expected him to bring down curtains on his illustrious career in 2023 as well especially after he led Chennai Super Kings to a record-equaling fifth IPL title.
However, the wicketkeeper-batsman stated that he would be playing at least one more season in the IPL. And while only time will tell whether he retires or continues as a player after IPL 2024, Paramjit Singh has claimed that his friend will play one more season after this year’s edition.
“There is no way he will retire after the upcoming season. He is fit enough to play for another two seasons. He will return for IPL 2025,” Paramjit told journalist Vimal Kumar.

For those who don’t know, Paramjit has played a big role in MS Dhoni’s cricket journey. The former India skipper recently came up with a heartwarming gesture for Paramjit by sporting the sticker of his sports shop ‘Prime Sports’ on his bat. Paramjit played a key role in securing MS Dhoni his first bat sponsorship.
