'MS Dhoni worked with Shivam Dube personally' - Ruturaj Gaikwad reveals after stunning win over GT

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad talked about the win over Gujarat Titans (GT) in match 7 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He was delighted with the way his team performed and said that they needed to come up performance like that against the Shubman Gill-led side. 

It was a near-perfect game for the Chennai Super Kings as they thumped Gujarat Titans by 63 runs at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led produced sensational effort with the bat, ball, and field and made sure that they registered their second win of the season. 

Ruturaj Gaikwad (46) and Rachin Ravindra (46) provided a powerful start to the team before Shivam Dube took center stage. The southpaw played the counter-attacking innings and took the game away from the opposition. He scored 51 runs off just 23 balls as Chennai Super Kings posted a big total of 206 runs on the board. 

With the ball, Chennai was exceptional as they didn’t let the opposition settle at all and picked wickets at regular intervals. Deepak Chahar, Mustafizur Rahman, and Tushar Deshpande picked two wickets each while Matheesha Pathirana and Daryl Mitchell also contributed. 

Chennai Super Kings restricted Gujarat Titans to a total of 143/8. They won the game by 63 runs, marking their second consecutive win of the season. With the win, they also bagged the top spot in the points table of the IPL 2024.

According to Ruturaj Gaikwad, the game against Gujarat Titans in Chennai was perfect for his team. He believes that Rachin Ravindra’s cameo at the top took the game away from the Gujarat Titans. While speaking to broadcasters, he explained: 

“Definitely today’s game was perfect – batting, bowling and fielding, and against a team like Gujarat we needed to come up with a performance like this. In Chennai we are not sure how the wicket will be, we need to do well irrespective of batting or bowling first. 

“Here if we have wickets in hand at the end it helps. Personally felt, that Rachin batted brilliantly in the powerplay and took the game away. From there we were always ahead.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad was also in awe of Shivam Dube’s brutal knock with the bat against Gujarat Titans. He revealed that ever since the batter has come to CSK, MS Dhoni has worked with him. The skipper also expressed his delight to see the team putting great effort on the field. He added: 

“[on Dube] In terms of confidence, the management and Mahi bhai worked with him, and his confidence is very high. He knows his roles very well. Definitely he is a big plus for us. I’m impressed with the fielding as well. 

“Maybe one or two youngsters we have extra this year and great effort from Jinks, even in the last game he was running from one end to the other. Fielding is a big tick for us.” 

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will now be seen in action when they will take on Delhi Capitals (DC) on 31st March at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
