Nitish Rana fires a massive warning to his Indian teammates ahead of IPL 2024

Nitish Rana will be a crucial member of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2024. Ahead of the season, Nitish Rana has said he wants to get selected for ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Rana led Kolkata Knight Riders last season.

Due to Shreyas Iyer’s absence, Rana was named KKR skipper last season. However, he failed to drive the team into the playoffs. KKR finished in the 7th spot in the points table. Iyer is back to lead Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024.

ICC T20 World Cup 2024 is set to commence on June 1. The ICC event will take place in the West Indies and the United States. 20 teams are part of the tournament. Since the ICC league follows IPL 2024, players with good shows in the league can get into India’s squad for the T20 World Cup.

Want to get selected for the World T20 squad: Nitish Rana

During an interview with TOI, Nitish Rana was asked whether the ICC T20I World Cup is in his mind ahead of IPL 2024. Rana said he wants to get picked for ICC T20 WC but wants to focus on IPL 2024 at the moment.

“Everyone wants to play for the country and many players will have it in the back of their mind, but we have to stay in the present. I too want to get selected for the World T20 squad, but at this moment I am thinking only about the IPL. I believe I can get 600 runs in this tournament and I will be aiming for that”, the left-handed batter said.

Nitish Rana has been a consistent batter for KKR in the IPL

Rana has been part of the KKR franchise for a long time. Last season, he was the second-highest run-getter for the team. The middle-order batter shattered 413 runs in 14 games. He also stormed 3 half-centuries in the season.

Nitish Rana has been a consistent performer for Kolkata Knight Riders for the last few seasons. Since IPL 2020, he has mustered 350-plus runs in every edition. In 105 games, Rana has smashed 2500-plus runs with 18 half-centuries. Notably, the left-handed batter was not picked for India’s squad for the Asian Games 2023 last year.

KKR to face SRH in IPL 2024 opening game

Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first match of IPL 2024. The Match 2 of IPL 2024 takes place on Saturday, March 23. The venue of the match is KKR’s home Eden Gardens Stadium.
