Mumbai Indians' (MI) pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah praised Romario Shepherd's batting prowess during the 20th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Jasprit Bumrah expressed satisfaction with the Mumbai team's first win in the ongoing T20 tournament.

Mumbai secured their first victory under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya. The five-time IPL champions defeated the Delhi Capitals (DC) by 29 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Romario Shepherd was named Player of the Match for his impactful performance.

Romario Shepherd came to the crease in the 18th over after the dismissal of Hardik Pandya. Shepherd added an unbeaten 53-run partnership off just 13 deliveries for the sixth wicket. He remained not out on 39 runs off 10 deliveries, including three boundaries and four maximums.

Shepherd displayed aggressive batting in the last over against Anrich Nortje, scoring 32 runs. He began with a boundary down the ground, then sent the next three balls for sixes. He followed up with a boundary off the fifth ball and effortlessly dispatched the last ball for another six.

Really Good To Get A Win - Jasprit Bumrah

In a video shared by MI on X, head coach Mark Boucher announced an award for Jasprit Bumrah for his impressive bowling performance. Receiving applause from teammates, Jasprit Bumrah said that he wouldn't want to bowl to Romario Shepherd when he's in form.

"Yeah, it was really good to get a win, a very good atmosphere as well. We boys were a little fresh after the break we got. So I am really happy and special mention to Romario (Shepherd). It was really wonderful to see. Good not to be at the other end bowling to him, but it was really good to see how he finished the game," Bumrah said.

Jasprit Bumrah showcased his bowling prowess for the Mumbai Indians, securing two crucial wickets while conceding only 22 runs in four overs. Bumrah claimed his 150th IPL wicket for the MI franchise, making him the first Indian bowler to reach this milestone for a single team in history.

Bumrah Did Bumrah Things - Romario Shepherd

Romario Shepherd emphasized the Mumbai Indians' unique camaraderie, describing it as more akin to a family compared to other professional IPL teams. He praised the team's performance, particularly highlighting Jasprit Bumrah's crucial role in securing victory.

All big IPL teams are professional, and IPL is a big tournament. MI is more like a family. They can be at this game and watch how fantastic it was today because 200 runs on a wicket like that was great, and also, the way DC batted was good. They put us under some pressure, but you know, Bumrah did Bumrah things in getting us over the line,” Shepherd said.

Mumbai Indians' recent win could bring momentum to their IPL 2024 journey. Romario Shepherd's impressive batting display and Jasprit Bumrah's bowling expertise stand as crucial strengths for the team, instilling anticipation among fans for their upcoming matches.

The Hardik Pandya-led team will face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their next game at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, April 11.
