Pat Cummins fires a massive warning to MS Dhoni ahead of SRH vs CSK

Indian Premier League's 2nd most expensive player from Australia Pat Cummins, who is captaining the Sunrisers Hyderabad, thinks he cannot outsmart former CSK captain MS Dhoni.

Cummins made this claim while speaking to Star Sports in a recent interview and therein he also spoke about the expectations fans have from him as well as his role as the captain of the team. His comments are also in the light of tonight's IPL 2024 clash between SRH and Chennai Super Kings.

Pat Cummins' life as an IPL captain has got off to a mixed start as the South Indian franchise have lost two and won 1 in their first three games.

The 2016 Champions, who will be aiming to finish in top 4 for the first time since 2021, are currently sitting 7th in the points table and in case they win tonight, they have solid chances of going as high as 5th in the standings. Moreover, if they register a big win in terms of net run rate then SRH can also take up the 3rd or 4th spot.

It all depends on how Pat Cummins and Co. perform against the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led CSK, who are entering this match after suffering their first defeat of the season against Delhi Capitals on March 31st.

This South-Indian derby is set to take place at the Rajiv Gandhi international stadium where the Orange army had scored the highest ever IPL total of 277 against Mumbai Indians on March 27th.

Pat Cummins explains his main job as the captain

While speaking to Star Sports, Pat Cummins was asked to shed light on his role and job as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad. Cummins explained that his main job is to get the best out of his players and try to observe what the opposing team is upto. He then stated that even if he observes, he cannot outsmart someone like MS Dhoni and lastly he hoped that his side will try to do their best and leave the rest.

"My main job as a captain is to get the best out of out guys, so obviously you look at the opposition little bit and see what they're doing but I don't think I'm gonna try and outsmart someone like MSD, you try and play your best, try to bring the best out of the guys and hopefully it works." - Cummins told Star Sports.

Cummins says his team are desperate to win IPL 2024

Pat Cummins then spoke about what his Sunrisers Hyderabad team are trying to do in this edition of Indian Premier League. He also highlighted the fans that get behind the team in large number in stadiums and claimed that even if its nothing new, winning games in T20 cricket is always a hard thing to do.

Cummins then concluded by saying that his team are training hard in the nets and are working hard behind the scenes to try and win this IPL edition.

"Whatever team you're playing in, whether you're captain, player or whatever it is. There's always huge expectation, we know how passionate the fans are, its great to see them turn up to the ground and its packed out. So nothing new, w're going to be trying our best, T20s, its a hard format, you have some amazing wins and also have some tough losses but we're giving it our best shot and desperately trying to win this IPL." - Cummins concluded.
