Punjab Kings

The Kings won their previous game chasing 200 against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad. They won the game from a seemingly lost position with Shashank Singh (61 off 29) and Ashutosh Sharma (31 off 17) pulling off a miraculous win. Their good record against SRH will give the Kings confidence heading into the game. In 21 matches against SRh, the Punjab Kings have won 14.

Despite the previous win, a lot of work needs to be done with figuring out the best XI of the team and backing the players to perform. Their bowlers especially Harshal Patel and Rahul Chahar both of whom have underperformed in the last few games. Liam Livingstone might continue to miss games for the Kings after suffering a hamstring injury against LSG.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

SRH have won two games at home and have lost both their away games so far./ Against CSK, they chased down a modest target of 165, Their batting and bowling has clicked unanimously in the matches that they have won. Against KKR, they were unfortunate to finish at the wrong side.

Hyderabad have sorted out their opening combination pushing Abhishek Sharma to open the batting with Travis Head. The duo has given consistent starts in the two games that they have won.

The bowling is looking good with Bhuvneswa Kumar and Pat Cummins spearheading it. They are thin on soin with only Mayank Markande as their specialist spinner. Shahbaz Ahmed is doing his bit. SRH will be missing Wanindu Hasaranga for the remainder of the tournament after the SLC pulled him out of the tournament to give him time to recover from the ankle injury keeping the T20 World Cup in mind. They have also written to the BCCI for the same.

SRH Squad

Pat Cummins (c), Abdul Samad, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Marco Jansen, Rahul Tripathi, Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, Sanvir Singh, Heinrich Klaasen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mayank Agarwal, T. Natarajan, Anmolpreet Singh, Mayank Markande, Upendra Singh Yadav, Umran Malik, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Shahbaz Ahmed, Travis Head, Wanindu Hasaranga, Jaydev Unadkat, Akash Singh, Jhathavedh Subramanyan

Key Battles

Travis Head vs Kagiso Rabada

Head has given SRH quick starts with the bat-scoring scoring 112 runs at an average of 37.33. The Kings will back the overseas specialist Kagiso Rabada to run through him in the game.

Shikhar Dhawan vs Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Dhawan and Bhuvi has played a lot with and against each other. Both are well aware of each other's strengths and weaknesses. the Punjab batting lineup heavily depends on Shikhar Dhawan giving them a good start. If Bhuvi picks his wicket early, it will be a body blow for the franchise.

Heinrich Klaasen vs Arshdeep Singh

Klaasen has been hitting the ball crisply in this IPL so far having scored 177 runs in the season already. He has been deadly against the spinners. He will be up against Arshdeep Singh in the final overs and this should be a good contest.

Key Players

For SRH, Head, Klaasesn, Markram, and Abhishek Sharma are key with the bat. With the ball, Bhuvi, Pat Cummins, and Mayank Markande are key. Hyderabad is thin on spin with Wanindu Hasaranga now being ruled out of the tournament.

For PBKS, Shikhar Dhawan holds they key with the bat. After what Shashank and Ashutosh produced with the bat in the last game, they are key as well. With the ball, Rabada, Arshdeep and Harpreet Brar are key.

Weather and Pitch

The weather conditions in Chandigarh will be around 24 degrees for this game. There is no rain threat which means we can have an exciting contest on our hands which might well be a high-scoring one. The humidity levels will be on the higher side.

Talking about the pitch, the venue has had only one IPL game so far. DC posted 174 in the game and Punjab Kings chased down 275 with ease. The wicket is a good one for batting with good bounce and carry. It will interesting to see how it plays in this game.

Conclusion

SRH lead the head to head count by 14-7 in 21 games. However, in this season so far, they have lost both their away games. They play another away game and should back themselves to win the match. We should have an exciting contest on offer, given how Punjab Kings played in their last match.
