Former India National Cricket Team player Krishnamachari Srikkanth aka Kris Srikkanth ripped into the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) following their defeat to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024). He also urged the star batsman and former skipper of the franchise, Virat Kohli, to finally start bowling in the ongoing edition of the competition.

In the 30th match of the Indian Premier League 2024, Royal Challengers Bengaluru were at the receiving end of the 25-run thrashing at the hands of Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 16.

After inviting SRH to bat first, RCB bowlers were horrible with their performance and looked clueless against the power-packed SRH batting unit. All the bowlers gave away runs at an economy rate of over 10 and ended up receiving 287 runs, which is the highest-ever total in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The top two destructive knocks were played by Travis Head and Heinrich Klaasen in the first innings of the match. Head smashed a brutal 102 runs while Klaasen smashed sensational 67 runs.

Chasing the target, Faf du Plessis (62) and Virat Kohli (42) fired from the top but other batters failed before Dinesh Karthik stepped up with a sensational 83-run knock. The combined efforts of the aforementioned batters weren't enough as the RCB were restricted to 262/7 in their 20 overs.

I felt very bad for Virat Kohli - Kris Srikkanth

Speaking after the match, 'hurt' Kris Srikkanth slammed the Royal Challengers Bengaluru's bowling unit for getting smashed against SRH. While lashing out at the franchise, he handed a bizarre suggestion of playing 11 batters to the team and urged Virat Kohli to start bowling as he is decent enough.

"Reece Topley is getting smashed. Lockie Ferguson was getting smashed. He has not done well in the IPL. He has traveled from Kolkata to Bengaluru. Will Jacks has been their best bowler," Srikkanth said on his YouTube show.

"Better, they play 11 batters. Ask Faf du Plessis to bowl 2 overs. Give Cameron Green 4 overs. I think Virat Kohli wouldn't have conceded this many had he bowled 4 overs. Virat Kohli is a decent bowler."

The former India cricketer also said that he was sad to see Virat Kohli looking helpless when his bowlers were getting thrashed in Bengaluru.

"At one stage, I felt very bad for Virat Kohli, who was just watching the balls fly out of the stadium. He came out angry when he walked out to bat. Head was smashing them, Klaasen, after that. But Abdul Samad's knock was the final nail in the coffin," he added.

Kris Srikkanth further blasted the Royal Challengers Bengaluru team management for not being able to find the right team balance and benching their top auction buys.

"They dropped Mohammed Siraj, they dropped Glenn Maxwell. Look at that, they dropped Cameron Green, who was bought for Rs 17.5 crore. They have dropped Alzarri Joseph, who was bought for Rs 11.5 crore. Hats off to RCB and their scouting team. I don't blame the players. I will only blame the team management for going in without a plan to the auction," Kris Srikkanth added.
