Lucknow Super Giants will take on Kolkata Knight Riders on April 14 at the Eden Gardens. The match starts at 3.30 pm IST and marks a special occasion.

LSG will wear the special "green and maroon jersey" that the Mohun Bagan Super Giants wear. It is interesting to note that Sanjeev Goenka hails from Kolkata and is the owner of the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL and the Mohun Bagan Super Giants in the ISL.

Thus it is a tribute to the oldest football club of Kolkata when LSG wears the traditional green and maroon jersey. Football and cricket is a very dear sport for the people of Kolkata. As much as they support KKR, they are also loyal to their two oldest clubs Mohun Bagan and East Bengal.

That LSG is sporting this jersey against KKR makes more sense as the club represents the heritage of football in Kolkata. Meanwhile, KKR and LSG both head into this game on the back of losses against CSK and DC respectively. Thus this becomes a very crucial match for the two teams.

LSG To Sport Green And Maroon Jersey Against KKR

KKR have never won against LSG in the history of the IPL. They lost in 2022 and lost both games in 2023. The last two matches have been very closely fought with LSG winning by just 2 runs in 2022 and by just one run in 2023. They dominated KKR in the first game as they won it by 75 runs.

Gautam Gambhir has now joined the KKR ranks after parting ways with LSG. The Lucknow franchise appointed Justin Lager as his replacement.

The Knight Riders started with three back-to-back wins and lost their previous game against CSK. LSG lost their first against Rajasthan Royals, won their next three against Punjab Kings, RCB, and GT, and lost their last game against DC.

"If I want to be harsh, I think we were 15-20 runs short, we got off to a good start, we could have capitalized and got 180. There was a bit of help for the seamers, the odd ball kept low. Kuldeep made its use (and got those wickets.) The new guys when they come in, it's pretty unknown for us. He (Jake Fraser-McGurk) hit the ball well, credit to him."

"We always walk in with the same mindset, want to hit the right areas. We got Warner in the powerplay, got a couple of wickets after the powerplay. The set batters - Pant and McGurk took the game away from us after that dropped catch. We travel tomorrow and play an afternoon game (on Sunday). That's how the schedule goes, need to turn up, could be tough during Indian summers" said Rahul on the loss.

Meanwhile, LSG is concerned with the fitness of Mayank Yadav. He bowled just a solitary over against RCB and had to leave the field. There are reports that he is suffering from abdominal soreness and his fitness is being monitored.

"He (Mayank Yadav) is feeling good, he looks good, but we don't want to rush him. We need to protect his body, he's itching to go. Need to make sure that he's hundred percent (fit) before he comes back" said Rahul on Mayank's fitness.
