Gujarat Titans‘ uncapped Indian buy during the IPL 2024 mini-auction last year in Dubai, Robin Minz suffered a sudden and tragic bike accident earlier today. The wicket-keeper batsman was on his way to somewhere on his Kawasaki sports bike when he came in contact with another bike before eventually losing control and falling flat. The incident has sent a major shockwave as Minz will be hoping to make his IPL debut this year.
It is being reported that Robin Minz has only suffered minor bruises and that he is not in any such danger. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for further observation while his father Francis Minz also gave an update. “He lost control when his bike came in contact with another bike. Nothing serious at the moment and he is currently under observation.”
Robin Minz lucky to not suffer anything severe
Reports have also suggested that Minz was lucky to have walked away with his life as the front part of his Kawasaki endured severe damage. So much so that the front has been totally blown away while the Jharkhand born only had a few bruises on his right knee.
Those who have watched him closely, say that Robin Minz is a serious talent to reckon with and he could be making waves going forward. He also been nicknamed as the left-handed Kieron Pollard for his power hitting ability and he has always idolized his senior statesman from Jharkhand, the legendary MS Dhoni.
He was roped in by 2022 champions Gujarat Titans for a whopping 3.60 crores from his original base price of INR 20 Lakhs. A number of franchises had gone down for a bidding war but it were the Titans who eventually landed him.
The reason why Robin Minz received so much hype is because he is the first Indian Adivasi (Tribal) cricketer to have earned a major IPL contract. He comes from a very remote region of Shimal village in Jharkhand’s Gumla district. His father Francis Xavier Minz works as a security personnel in the Ranchi Airport, was even told by MS Dhoni that in case no other franchise goes behind him, CSK will.
And when the auction took place on December 19 at the Coca-Cola Arena, it all made sense. As soon as Minz was up for auction, the Chennai Super Kings were the first to raise their paddle before Mumbai Indians jumped in and Gujarat Titans eventually walked away with their target.
Chanchal Bhattacharya, coach of Robin feels he will become next MS Dhoni
The coach of Robin Minz, Chanchal Bhattacharya who has also played a part in helping MS Dhoni, claimed that Robin is a true depiction of a hard hitter. Bhattacharya stated that the youngster is naturally aggressive and that he is quite identical to what he saw from Dhoni in the initial years.
