Shocking schedule change in the middle of IPL 2024 disrupts fixtures for four teams

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 has faced minor changes in the schedule for two games. Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) games have been shifted from their original dates and have been rescheduled by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

The game between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), which was scheduled to take place on 17th April at the Eden Gardens has been shifted to 16th April. The game between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC), which was slated to take place on 16th April at Narendra Modi International Stadium in Ahmedabad will now be played on 17th April.

The little change in the schedule of the IPL 2024 took place because the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was finding it hard to get the security for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Rajasthan Royals (RR) game due to the festival Rama, scheduled to take place during that time.

BCCI had earlier informed about the development to both KKR and RR along with state associations and broadcasters. They reportedly were in talks with the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) and Kolkata Police about the same and were looking for a window to reschedule the game.

The BCCI, thankfully, didn’t have to make massive changes as they swapped the dates of the KKR vs RR game with the GT vs DC game. Since both the games are far away from now, it will allow all four franchises to plan their preparations for the game accordingly. With games moving just 1 day, it won’t be a problem for the teams.

BCCI released the official statement about the IPL 2024 schedule change and stated: “The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the rescheduling of two TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 matches. The fixture between Kolkata Knight Riders & Rajasthan Royals, which was earlier scheduled to take place on April 17, 2024, at Eden Gardens, Kolkata will now be played a day prior on April 16, 2024.

The Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad was earlier scheduled to host the match between Gujarat Titans & Delhi Capitals on April 16, 2024. The fixture will now be played on April 17, 2024.”

Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders top teams in the IPL 2024

Rajasthan Royals and the Kolkata Knight Riders are the two top teams in the IPL 2024 so far. The Sanju Samson-led side tops the points table with three wins out of their three games. They have massive NRR as well and are one of the hot favourites to qualify for the playoffs.

On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders too are undefeated in the IPL 2024 so far. They played two games so far and have won both of them. They are placed second on the points table and would be hoping to continue their winning run in the tournament going ahead.

Gujarat Titans has been decent as well as they won two games and have lost one. Delhi Capitals are currently in the lower half of the IPL 2024 points table. They have managed just one win from three games. With the kind of competition that he has been in, it’s fair to say that the place for playoffs will be a work for all the teams.
