Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) takes on Mumbai Indians (MI) in match 8 of IPL 2024 in Hyderabad. This is the first of the two home games that SRH plays in the first leg of IPL 2024.
SRH lost their season opener against KKR in Kolkata as they failed to chase 209 for victory. They got as far as 204 and fell short by 8 runs as Harshit Rana kept his cool in the final over.
Heinrich Klaasen’s 63 off 29 balls was not enough to take the side home. His dismissal gave KKR the opening in the final over and the Knight Riders cashed in. Heading into this game, their top-order Indian batters look good. However, they have been guilty of not scoring too many runs consistently for SRH.
The way the SRH team is shaped up, they have a heavy reliance on their overseas pros. The problem for them yet again will be to choose their four overseas players based on the conditions and the opposition.
Wanindu Hasaranga their overseas specialist spinner was unavailable for the first game and as per reports, he will miss the first three games. His availability for the fourth game is not yet assured. He came out of his Test retirement to play the two-match Test series for Sri Lanka but was banned by the ICC for two Test matches.
