Sunrisers Hyderabad takes on Punjab Kings in match 23 of IPL 2024 at the newly-built Mullanpur stadium in Chandigarh. SRH will be playing against PBKS for the very first time at this venue.

SRH heads into this game after a win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) where they chased down 165 posted by the Yellow Army. The batters from Sunrisers Hyderabad have been consistent with giving the team quick starts.

Against Punjab Kings particularly, they do not have a good record winning just seven out of the 21 matches played between the two sides. After winning almost clinically against CSK, the Sunrisers should back the same side against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

Heading into this game, the Sri Lanka Cricket Board has pulled out Wanindu Hasaranga from IPL 2024 as he is recovering from his ankle injury. This comes as a big blow who were anticipating his return sometime sooner. SRH are under pressure heading into this contest having lost both their away games so far in the season.

Travis Head

Head will open the batting for SRH. He scored 31 off 24 balls in the match against CSK adding a stand of 46 in just 32.3 overs. He has already scored close to 150 runs in just three innings.

Abhishek Sharma

The southpaw will open the batting with Head. Like Head, he too has been giving SRH quick starts. He scored 37 off just 12 balls and gave SRH a headstart in the chase against CSK. He has already scored 161 runs in four matches.

Aiden Markram

Markram will slot in at three. He scored 50 off 36 balls against CSK and anchored the chase for SRH. The South African batter led the Hyderabad franchise last season and continues to be a key player for the team.

Heinrich Klaasen (WK)

Klaasesn will slot in at four. He is SRH's top-scorer in the season so far with 177 runs from four matches. Against CSk, he scored 10 off 11 balls and took his team home.

Shahbaz Ahmed

The Bengal all-rounder will slot in at five. The SRH batting lineup looks a bit thin with him coming in at five. He scored 18 off 19 balls against CSK. He has more often played cameos.

Abdul Samad

Samad can slot in at six. He did not bat in the previous game but might be needed against Punjab Kings. He scored a good 29 off 14 balls in a lost cause against Gujarat Titans.

Pat Cummins (C)

SRH skipper Pat Cummins can slot in at seven. He is a handy option with the and has taken five wickets in four games with the ball so far. He got to 50 IPL wickets last game and is closing in on 50 games.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar

Bhuvi can slot in at number eight. He too is a handy batter down the order and the most experienced SRH bowler. He picked up 1/28 in the last game against CSK. He has taken 171 wickets in 164 games.

T Natarajan

Left-arm pacer T Natarajan will be the second Indian pacer in the XI. He picked up 1 for 39 against CSK. He has picked up over 50 IPL wickets. He will be playing his 50th IPL game in the next match.

Jaydev Unadkat

Unadkat will be the third Indian pacer in the XI. SRH is his eighth IPL franchsie. He picked up 1 for 29 against CSK. He is six shy of 100 IPL wickets.

Mayank Markande

Markande concludes the SRH playing XI as the only specialist spinner. So far this season He has picked up three wickets in four games. Last year, he picked 12 wickets.

Impact Sub- Washington Sundar

Washington Sundar can be used as the Impact Sub by SRH. He will be an additional batter for SRh but more importantly, gives them an additional spin option.
