"The Real MVP" - Twitter hails Sunil Narine as he scores maiden IPL century

Continuing his stunning run with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024), Sunil Narine, on Tuesday (April 16), scored a sensational century against Rajasthan Royals at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

The KKR team management decided to promote him in the batting order once again and he has totally repaid the faith so far. After starting his season with a 2-run knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad, Sunil Narine bounced back by scoring 47, 85, and 27 in the following three games.

In the last game against Lucknow Super Giants, the KKR opener failed to get going with the bat as he was out for just six. However, he has bounced back in style by scoring his maiden T20 century against the Royals. Sunil Narine did not get off to his usual fast start with the bat.

At the end of the fifth over, he was batting on 12 off 12 balls before he got into his groove by hitting Kuldeep Sen for a six and a four in the sixth over. There was no looking back after that as Sunil Narine kept hitting the big boundaries at will. He brought up his fifty with a six in the tenth over and did it in just 29 balls.

He finally reached his century in the 16th over by taking Yuzvendra Chahal to the cleaners. He hit the RR spin spearhead for two sixes and as many fours in the over to complete a sensational century off just 49 balls.

A redemption to remember for Sunil Narine:

Sunil Narine's redemption with the bat is nothing less than extraordinary. The KKR star struggled to make an impact with the bat in the recent seasons of the IPL. Last year, he averaged just three with the bat while in 2022, his average with the bat was only 8.88. The last time his average went above 20 was way back in 2017.

In the ongoing season, he has scored his runs at a remarkable average of more than 50. With 276 runs from six games, he is KKR's leading run-scorer this season.
