The Knight Riders will commence their IPL 2024 journey against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday, March 23, at the iconic Eden Gardens Stadium in Kolkata. Skipper Shreyas Iyer makes a comeback after overcoming a back injury to lead the team into the tournament.

Before their first match in the IPL 2024 season, Gautam Gambhir and Rinku Singh engaged in an intense discussion. They appeared to be focused on refining the gameplay strategy and enhancing the shot-making skills to strengthen their approach on the field.

The Shreyas Iyer-led side is eager to secure the coveted silverware in the 17th edition of the tournament. The Kolkata Knight Riders haven’t clinched the title since 2014. They faced defeat against the reigning champions, the Chennai Super Kings, in the final clash of 2021.

Gautam Gambhir mentored the Lucknow Super Giants and guided them to the playoffs in 2022 and 2023. However, he joined the KKR support staff as a mentor ahead of the IPL 2024 mini-auction. Notably, he led the Knight Riders to title victories in 2012 and 2014.

Rinku Singh Is In Red-Hot Form – Aakash Chopra

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, Aakash Chopra emphasized that the Kolkata Knight Riders’ Indian batting lineup is a major strength for the IPL 2024. Chopra commended Rinku Singh, noting the southpaw’s exceptional form.

“The first strength you see is the Indian batting contingent. They have Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer, Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh. Just think about it, four good Indian players who have all played for India,” Chopra said.

“Rinku Singh is in red-hot form. Shreyas Iyer is on a comeback trail. Venkatesh Iyer was also playing decently, he played well last year too, and Nitish Rana is a very good player. So that makes it four Indian batters,” the former India opener added.

The leading run-scorers for the Knight Riders in IPL 2023 were Rinku Singh with 474 runs, followed by Nitish Rana with 413 runs and Venkatesh Iyer with 404 runs. With the addition of Shreyas Iyer, the team’s Indian batting lineup has received a significant boost.
