Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player Sunil Narine put up a magnificent show with the bat in the ongoing game against Delhi Capitals (DC). The 16th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 is taking place at the Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam.
Sunil Narine, who opened the innings, made sure that he set the stage on fire with his magnificent innings at the top. He showed no mercy on the Delhi Capitals bowlers and made sure that he took his team off the flying start with the bat.
Sunil Narine made Delhi Capitals bowlers look clueless and smashed the bowlers all over the park. The Rishabh Pant-led side seemed to have no answer to the carnage by the all-rounder as everything they bowled was going out of the park in Visakhapatnam.
Delhi Capitals, however, had removed him early on his innings but the umpire robbed them of the review as the batter continued batting. That cost the Rishabh Pant-led side big time in the game as the Kolkata Knight Riders batter went on to play brutal innings for his team.
It was during the 4th ball of the 4th over when Ishant Sharma bowled a short of a good length delivery that was angling into Sunil Narine. The batter went for a wild slog as the ball went close to the bat on the way back to keeper Rishabh Pant.
Rishabh Pant made a late call for the DRS. He, however, had 1 second left but the umpire didn’t allow the keeper-batter to take the review. The replays later showed that the batter had nicked the ball and had the umpire allowed them to take the review, DC would’ve had their man.

Sunil Narine at that time was batting at 24 runs off 13 balls. The opening batter then unleashed his beast mode and played some crisp shots in his innings. He scored 85 runs off 39 balls and with a strike rate of 218. He slammed 7 fours and 7 sixes in his innings.
Sunil Narine’s innings powered the Kolkata Knight Riders to a total of 272 runs. Apart from him, Angkrish Raghuvanshi (54) Andre Russell (41), and Rinku Singh (26) played vital innings with the bat. For Delhi Capitals, Ishant Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with his figures of 2/43, Anrich Nortje also picked two wickets as well.
Delhi Capitals (DC) get off to a poor start with the bat in the chase
Delhi Capitals had a torrid start to their innings with the bat in the ongoing game against Kolkata Knight Riders. The Shreyas Iyer-led have been on the top of the game with the ball and have taken 4 quick wickets of the opposition at the Visakhapatnam.
Prithvi Shaw (10) and David Warner (18) went after starts whereas Mitchell Marsh and Abhishek Porel bagged ducks. Delhi Capitals were left tottering at 33/4. The onus will now be on skipper Rishabh Pant and Tristan Stubbs to take the team close to the target. They have so far batted well and would want to continue.
