Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batter Glenn Maxwell is having a torrid time in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. He bagged another low failure and went back for a low total in the ongoing game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) underway at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru, after being asked to bat first, were off to a magnificent start with the bat, thanks to Faf du Plessis (44) and Virat Kohli. The duo made a mockery of the Rajasthan Royals bowlers and made sure that they put a big opening partnership of 125 runs in the Pink City.

After skipper Faf du Plessis got out, it was expected that Glenn Maxwell, who was promoted up the order, would unleash himself and continue the momentum for his team. But it wasn't the case as the Royal Challengers Bengaluru batter bagged another score and put his team under pressure.

Glenn Maxwell fell to Nandre Burger, who bowled a fastback of a length ball angling in. The batter made room to cut and missed the ball completely. The ball went on to crush the stumps as the fast bowler provided his team with the crucial breakthrough in the game.

Here's the video:

Glenn Maxwell couldn't trouble the scorecard much as he managed just 1 run off 3 balls. His wicket saw Royal Challengers Bengaluru losing two wickets in quick succession of time. They were reduced to 128/2. After that debutant Saurav Chauhan too couldn't set the stage on fire in his maiden innings as he managed just 3 runs.

However, Virat Kohli made sure that he didn't let the team falter the start they had. The batter oozed his class and made sure that he took his team to the big total on the board. The right-hander continued his golden run in the IPL 2024 and slammed a glorious ton.

Virat Kohli ended with an innings of unbeaten 113 runs off 72 balls. The batter batted with a strike rate of over 156 and also slammed 12 fours and 4 sixes in his innings. His innings at the top powered Royal Challengers Bengaluru to a total of 183 runs on the board in Jaipur.

It's just experience and maturity of playing the conditions - Virat Kohli on his innings

Virat Kohli opened up about his innings against Rajasthan Royals. He stated that he had a conversation with Faf du Plessis that one of them would bat till the end as the wicket was slow. He added that he used his experience and played on the merit of the ball. Speaking to broadcasters, he explained:

"One of us (Virat or Faf) had to bat till the end. I feel this total is effective on this pitch. I am not coming in with any premeditation. I knew I couldn't get over-aggressive, just that I had to keep the bowlers guessing. It's just experience and maturity of playing the conditions."

With the kind of slowness that pitch is offering, Royal Challengers Bengaluru would be high on confidence to defend the target. The onus will be on the bowlers to step up for the team and help the team stage a comeback after two back-to-back losses.
