The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) explosive batsman Heinrich Klaasen and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik smashed two of the biggest sixes of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Monday, April 15.

The Faf du Plessis-led Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) went head-to-head with the Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the 30th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 (IPL 2024) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Heinrich Klaasen played an exceptional knock in the first innings of the match and played a key role in the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) posting 287/3 on the board, which was the highest total in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Klaasen smashed 67 runs off 31 balls, with 2 fours and 7 sixes. One of the sixes hit by Klaasen was 106 m, which became the joint-longest six of the IPL 2024. On the second ball of the 17th over, Lockie Ferguson bowled a length ball that Klaasen murdered with a gigantic 106-m six.

However, that wasn't the biggest six of the match as Dinesh Karthik came up with a marvelous hit in the second innings and surpassed Heinrich Klaasen, Venkatesh Iyer, and Nicholas Pooran to hit the longest six of the Indian Premier League 2024.

On the first ball of the 16th over, T Natarajan bowled a fuller-length delivery on the pads and Dinesh Karthik slammed it off the pads for a gigantic 108-m six. Overall, Dinesh Karthik smashed 83 runs off 35 balls, with 5 fours and 7 sixes, during the run-chase.

Talking about the RCB vs SRH clash, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted 287/3 and restricted the Royal Challengers Bengaluru to 262/7 to win the high-scoring match by 25 runs. Overall, 81 boundaries were hit in the match which is the joint-most in a T20 match. Also, 549 runs were scored in the match, which is the highest aggregate in a T20 match in history.

Speaking after the match, Heinrich Klaasen said that Travis Head, who smoked a 39-ball ton, put bowlers under pressure with his special knock. Heinrich Klaasen said:

"It was unbelievable, that was a special knock by Head, put the pressure on the bowlers. I took a bit of time, knocked the ball around, waited for the bad balls, and made sure he (Head) faced majority of the balls. It's nice to have bowlers under pressure."

Klaasen further said that he has been training a lot and was delighted that it paid off. He elaborated:

"Haven't been training a lot, but had a good session (before the match). That fine tuning worked tonight. We have been lucky, it was a good wicket, just needed to execute (our plans.) Their batters also played well (during the run chase.)"
