Kavya Maran, the CEO of Sunrisers Hyderabad, celebrated Rohit Sharma’s dismissal in an animated manner during the game against Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Wednesday (March 27).
Asked to bat first, SRH piled up a huge total of 277 for 3 in the allotted 20 overs. While Mumbai Indians managed to dismiss Mayank Agarwal cheaply, they looked absolutely clueless against Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. By the time the powerplay ended, SRH had raced away to 81 for 1 and completed the 100 in just the seventh over.
Head departed after scoring an 18-ball fifty before Sharma bettered his performance by scoring his half-century in just 16 balls. After Head and Sharma were dismissed, Heinrich Klaasen launched a stunning assault on Mumbai and completed a 23-ball fifty as SRH eventually finished on a record 277 for 3. Klaasen remained unbeaten on 80 off just 34 balls.
Kavya Maran celebrates Rohit Sharma’s dismissal:
MI began the chase in an explosive manner with both Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan hitting a boundary each in the first over. In the second over, Rohit hit two more sixes while Kishan hit another four. In the third over, Kishan hit Bhuvneshwar Kumar for three sixes and a four as MI completed their fifty in just the third over.
Kishan began the fourth over by hitting Shahbaz Ahmed for a six before being dismissed on the very next delivery. Rohit, on the other hand, hit Pat Cummins for a six in the next over before the SRH captain cut short his innings. After being hit for the six, Cummins sent back the former Mumbai captain on the next delivery.
And as Rohit was dismissed, Kavya Maran heaved a sigh of relief and celebrated the dismissal like a child. She started jumping and shouting to celebrate the big wicket.
