Sunrisers Hyderabad’s Australian captain Pat Cummins is not leaving a single chance to insult or disregard the Indian team led by Rohit Sharma since beating them in the CWC 2023 final. Cummins once again fell under the spotlight when he attended a fan meet-up event organized by the Sunrisers Hyderabad recently where he asked the supporters in front of him to shut up.

Pat Cummins pulled up that “finger on your lips” gesture to give a throwback to the time his Australian team silenced over 1 Lakh people in the Cricket World Cup final last year. In the 25-second video clip, which is going viral all across social media platforms, fans can be heard chanting “silence-silence” to the right-arm pacer who initially just laughed it off.

The size of his smile was as big as MS Dhoni’s 2011 World Cup final six and his body language was as confident as the statement he made before the World Cup final. After a few seconds of just smiling to those chants, Pat Cummins asked the fans in front of him to shush by putting his finger on the lips and that gesture lighted up the fans even more who were just not wanting to stop screaming.

Why did the crowd go berserk when Pat Cummins pulled out the “shush” gesture

On the eve of the ICC 2023 50-over World Cup final in Ahmedabad’s World’s Largest cricket stadium, Pat Cummins desired to make the crowd go silent. In that press conference, he was asked about how he and his players will handle the pressure of playing in front of more than a Lakh of Indian supporters at the Narendra Modi stadium.

That India is coming in the back of a 10-match winning streak in the World Cup league stage, how will the Aussies handle all that? An extremely confident Pat Cummins did not even have a single wrinkle of doubt on his face as to whether his team would be able to defy the odds or not.

Cummins took it rather sportingly, claiming that his players would embrace the challenge and that they were aware of the crowd being lethally one-sided. However, what Cummins said next was a testament to the Australian blood he has within his veins. The 30-year-old stated that the 5-time champions will be on for their 6th one and that they will gain satisfaction by making the huge crowd go silent.

“I think you’ve got to embrace it, the crowd’s obviously going to be very one-sided. But also in sport, there’s nothing more satisfying than hearing a big crowd go silent and that’s the aim for us. You got to be up for it, you got to love it and just know whatever happens it’s fine but you just want to finish the day with no regrets.” – Pat Cummins had said in the press conference.

As soon as Pat Cummins made the gesture, the crowd went berserk and the Aussie was loving to take a disrespectful dig at the Indian team. His SRH teammates and coach Marco Jansen, Aiden Markram, and Muttiah Muralitharan also cracked into laughter.
