Rishabh Pant, on Friday (April 12), led his team Delhi Capitals from the very front to put them in a commanding position in the ongoing game against Lucknow Super Giants at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow.
The wicketkeeper-batsman came out to bat when DC were in a precarious position after the dismissal of Prithvi Shaw in the seventh over. DC were 63 for 2 while chasing 168. Against an opposition that is known for defending totals, DC needed their captain to deliver and he did not disappoint.
He and debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk shared a crucial 77-run stand for the third wicket to put DC in the driver's seat. Naveen-ul-Haq broke the stand by dismissing Fraser-McGurk. The Australian youngster departed after smashing 55 runs off 35 balls with the help of two fours and five sixes.
Six runs after his departure, Rishabh Pant was dismissed as well. The DC captain was stumped by KL Rahul when he danced down the track against Ravi Bishnoi to play a big shot. The southpaw departed after scoring a crucial 41 runs off just 24 balls.
He played some brilliant shots during his knock and one of those shots has become the talk of the town. The shot came against Marcus Stoinis in the 12th over.
On the fourth ball of the over, the LSG allrounder bowled a slower delivery outside the off stump and Rishabh Pant brought out the reverse ramp to hit the ball over the short third-man fielder for a four. The India star had famously played a similar shot against England great James Anderson during the Ahmedabad Test in 2021.
