Rohit Sharma was left scared after a pitch invader got close to him during the ongoing game between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Monday (April 1).
The incident took place during the Royals’ innings. Rohit Sharma was standing at first slip and was seemingly looking at the field placement before being caught off guard by the fan who was running towards him. As the fan got close to Rohit Sharma, he got scared for a moment and took a few steps back.
The former India captain, however, let the fan hug him. The fan also hugged Ishan Kishan before walking away and being escorted out of the ground by the security personnel.
This is the second time this season that a fan managed to evade all the security and enter the field. A similar incident took place in Bengaluru last week when Royal Challengers Bengaluru were playing against Punjab Kings. A fan entered the field to embrace Virat Kohli before the security personnel escorted him out.
The incidents of pitch invasion are becoming quite common in India and the authorities need to take stern action to avoid any mishap.

Talking about the ongoing game between Mumbai Indians and Rajasthan Royals, the home side could only manage 125/9 in the allotted 20 overs after being asked to bat first. At one stage, they were reeling at 20 for 4 before a 56-run stand between Hardik Pandya and Tilak Varma steadied the ship. Mumbai, however, could not close their innings strongly and ended up with 125.
Rohit Sharma also failed to shine in the game and was out for a golden duck in the very first over. At the time of writing this report, the Royals were on 54 for 3 in the eighth over.
