While Royal Challengers Bengaluru have not really hit the ground running in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), their star batsman Virat Kohli has looked in fine touch.
In fact, he is currently the highest run-scorer in IPL 2024. He is the only batsman to touch the 200-run mark in the ongoing tournament so far. Virat Kohli had not played a competitive game since January as he decided to be with his pregnant wife. In February, Anushka Sharma and the former India skipper became the parents for a second time.
After missing the entire five-match Test series against England, Virat Kohli finally returned to action in IPL 2024 and has looked in brilliant form. He started his campaign in the competition with a 20-ball 21 runs knock against Chennai Super Kings before scoring two half-centuries.
He scored 77 against Punjab Kings before playing an unbeaten knock of 82 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders. In his last outing against Lucknow Super Giants, the former RCB skipper got the start but could not convert it into a big score and was out for 22.
Virat Kohli gives Ravichandran Ashwin a taste of his own medicine:
At present, Virat Kohli is playing in the ongoing game between RCB and Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. At the time of writing this report, he was batting on 53 off 40 balls. During the knock, the star batsman gave his India teammate Ravichandran Ashwin a taste of his own medicine while facing him.
Virat Kohli recreated Ashwin's famous leave during the 2022 T20 World Cup clash against Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. India needed 2 off 1 ball against the arch-rivals when Nawaz fired one down the leg side. Ashwin showed remarkable composure and let the ball go past him as the umpire adjudged it wide.
And Virat Kohli did something similar against Ashwin on Saturday (April 6). On the second ball of the seventh over, Ashwin bowled one down the leg side and Kohli recreated his famous leave. The former India skipper was then seen smiling and looking towards the RR spinner.
