Rishabh Pant is all set to make a comeback in the IPL 2024. He will be leading the Delhi Capitals this season. Pant will be returning to cricket after more than a year.
Rishabh Pant was out of international cricket after his car crash on December 30, 2022. He was under treatment and rehab and is now ready to make a comeback in the IPL. He will comeback as the Delhi Capitals captain and replace David Warner who led the side in the last season.
Pant has been rehabilitating at the NCA in Bengaluru and has also participated in a practice game staged by his side, Delhi Capitals in Alur, Karnataka. He scored 340 runs for Delhi when he past played in IPL 2022.
Meanwhile, former Indian cricketer Parthiv Patel while speaking to Jio Cinema said that Pant’s comeback in the IPL won’t be easy. He began his interaction by congratulating the southpaw for his recovery post his accident.
Rishabh Pant Is A Blockbuster Player: Parthiv Patel
“Pant is very positive. He is a blockbuster player. Whenever he comes, he does something and makes his team win. You want to see him play all the time. He’s a great package. On top of everything, he’s recovered really well after that accident. Hopefully we’ll see him hitting sixes again,” said Patel.
The former Indian wicketkeeper said that the comeback won’t be easy for Rishabh Pant as he has been out with injury for a long time. The Indian keeper-batsman has been doing the hard yards in training and has been moving swiftly behind the stumps. Pant also spoke extensively about his road to recovery recently with Star Sports.
“But it won’t be easy. We all know that making a comeback after being on the sidelines for so long is not easy. How mentally tough and prepared he is will matter a lot,” Patel added.
Delhi Capitals will be playing their IPL 2024 campaign opener against Punjab Kings on Saturday, March 23 in Mohali. Meanwhile, Delhi’s first two home games will be played in Vizag.
The reason behind it is that there will be 11 matches of the WPL 2024 played in Delhi from March 5-17 including the Eliminator and the final. Thus the BCCI in agreement with the franchise owners expressed their uncertainty regarding the pitch condition of the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
“We felt it necessary to allow the ground some respite following the WPL matches. The decision to play in Visakhapatnam was a franchise call and it was confirmed by the BCCI. “Having chosen to play their first two home matches in Visakhapatnam, the Delhi Capitals will first host the Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, 31st March in the port city and will then face the Kolkata Knight Riders at the same venue on Wednesday, 3rd April,” the BCCI said releasing the schedule.
The BCCI announced the schedule of the first 21 matches of IPL 2024. The season opener will be played between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Chennai. CSK are the defending champions of the title having won the title in 2023. CSK and MI have both won the title five times.
