Yashasvi Jaiswal’s overwhelming performance for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the ongoing IPL 2024 forced Aakash Chopra to request Indian skipper Rohit Sharma to talk to him about his approach with the bat, as he is really worried about the talented opener.

Yashasvi has been going through a rough patch in the ongoing IPL 2024, mostly because of his rash shots that led him to throw his wicket cheaply in the tournament. Having witnessed the young opener struggle for runs in the ongoing IPL 2024, Chopra expressed his concerns.

The former Indian batter and cricket expert mentioned that Yashasvi is playing in a very different style in the ongoing IPL 2024, saying he is just trying to go after every ball, and that’s not his natural style, and that’s why he is struggling with the bat in the tournament.

I want Kumar Sangakkara or Rohit Sharma to talk to Yashasvi Jaiswal: Aakash Chopra

Chopra further urged Mumbai Indians (MI) senior opener Rohit Sharma and Rajasthan Royals (RR) Director of Cricket Kumar Sangakkara to talk to Yashasvi, especially about his approach, as the Indian selectors will finalize the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 squad in less than two weeks.

Aakash Chopra said on his YouTube Channel: “I am getting slightly worried about Yashasvi because Yashasvi didn't used to play like this. He is trying to murder every ball. You are a very good player, and you are good because you believe in timing. You are not a wrestler and you are not Andre Russell. Your playing style is very different.”

The commentator added, “Since I like this kid a lot, I want Kumar Sangakkara to talk to him, or else Rohit Sharma should pick up the phone and talk to him and say - 'You have to go to the T20 World Cup but this form is not required, play a little cautiously'. He hit a six and a four, and then tried another big shot and got out.”

Yashasvi has been struggling in the ongoing IPL 2024, but his team, Rajasthan Royals (RR), is in stunning form, having won six of their seven games so far in the tournament. The Royals are currently leading the IPL 2024 points table with 12 points, and they will next face the Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 22 in Jaipur.

The RR opener has so far amassed only 121 runs in his 7 outings in the tournament, a disappointing average of 17.29, and a strike rate of 145.78. If he wants to be in contention for T20 World Cup 2024 selection, the youngster will have to put up strong performances on the board.

Aakash Chopra lauded Jos Buttler

On the other hand, Aakash Chopra said that Sunil Narine and Jos Buttler, who both scored centuries, were the standout performers in the KKR vs. RR match at Eden Gardens. Highlighting Buttler's ability to single-handedly shift the momentum in the game, Chopra called him a "one-man army."

The cricket expert further highlighted Buttler's exceptional performance, saying it is a testament to his prowess as a T20 opener, as he helped RR win the IPL 2024 match by 2 wickets on April 16.
