IND vs NZ 2021: Watch - KS Bharat's Sharp Stumping To Dismiss Tom Latham, Axar Patel Takes His Third Wicket

KS Bharat has had a brilliant day behind the stumps on Day 3 of the ongoing Kanpur Test between India and New Zealand.

Wriddhiman Saha did not take the field on Day 3 due to stiffness in his neck, and hence KS Bharat was summoned to take up the wicket-keeping duties on a tricky pitch.

After taking two superb catches, the Andhra Pradesh wicket-keeper showed brilliant reflexes to stump out Tom Latham, off the bowling of Axar Patel.

Seeing Latham charge down, Axar dropped it short and wide. The ball turned in big with bounce to fox the batter who was in no good position to play the shot. The ball took Latham’s glove and bounced in front of the stumps.

KS Bharat was ready to grab the ball, should Latham miss it. He was in an awkward position when the ball reached him after bouncing on the pitch, but the RCB wicket-keeper was alert to collect the ball, before disturbing the stumps.

Indian bowlers storm back after 151-run opening stand

It took 66 overs for India to make their first breakthrough as R Ashwin dismissed Will Young – a low edge taken really well by Bharat – for 89 breaking the 151-run opening stand. 19 overs later, Umesh Yadav had Kane Williamson trapped lbw.

After then, Axar Patel rolled over the Kiwis. He had veteran batsman Ross Taylor edging to KS Bharat before Henry Nicholls was given out lbw after missing a sweep. Latham was the fifth wicket to fall, missing his century by just 5 runs, stumped by KS Bharat off Patel.

At the time of writing, New Zealand are 233/5, still trailing by 112 runs.
