Aakash Chopra praised Rohit Sharma for his aggressive performance during India’s run chase against New Zealand in the second ODI.

Had the Kiwis given India a difficult goal, Chopra believes the opener would have completed his long wait for an international century.

“Since he contributed 51 of the 72 runs in the opening-wicket partnership, he would have easily reached a century if they had been pursuing 250–300. 7 fours and 2 sixes are part of the 51 runs off of 50 balls,” Aakash Chopra said.

When he scored 51 runs, Rohit was at his most fluid. When it appeared the Indian captain and Shubman Gill may successfully pursue the objective together, Henry Shipley successfully trapped him plumb in front of the wickets.

After being cheaply dismissed in the first two ODIs against the Black Caps, Aakash Chopra believes Virat Kohli could soon get a century.

“Kohli – another interesting name. He did not experience consecutive twin failures, although they did occur. Santner removed him both in the previous match and here – bowled in the previous match and stumped here. It may mean a Kohli century in the next game. He has already scored 46, therefore an odd failure is quite acceptable and permitted”  

Virat Kohli managed only 11 runs in the second ODI against New Zealand.
