Indian Cricket Team won a thriller against New Zealand in the 1st ODI at Hyderabad. Shubman Gill, the dashing right-handed batter smashed his maiden double-century as batter paced his innings brilliantly. The batter scored 208 runs in 149 balls where he struck 19 fours & 9 sixes.
Mohammed Siraj continued his purple patch as the right-arm speedster took 4 scalps and gave away 46 runs in his spell of 10 overs. Siraj in a short span of time has become an inseparable part of the Indian Cricket Team. This time he not only performed in the power-play overs but took a major wicket of Mitchell Santner in the death overs.

Shubman Gill on Knock
Shubman Gill was having an interaction with the media and was asked about his knock. “This knock means a lot to me. I could not convert in the first ODI and third game (against Sri Lanka), I was looking to get a big score but it didn’t happen. Once I was set, the focus was to score as may runs as possible,” said Shubman Gill.

“With the extra fielder inside the circle (in overs 11-40), we see the other teams pushing in the middle overs. Even when wickets were falling, I wanted to show intent to the bowlers because it’s very easy to bowl dot balls if the batter is not showing intent,” he added.
Concerns for India
Apart from Shubman Gill, not a single batter scored 35 runs which is not at all a good sign. The batters Rohit Sharma & Suryakumar Yadav got starts but couldn’t convert those. Shardul Thakur was selected into the playing 11 because of his hitting prowess but he was dismissed cheaply.
New Zealand need to regroup quickly and make sure that they are making the power-play overs count as they managed to score 42 runs for the loss of 1 over. The visitors need to find a way to tackle Mohammed Siraj’s variations as of now Siraj is looking unstoppable.
