Indian Cricket Team registered a massive victory over New Zealand in the 2nd ODI. The Men in Blue clinched the ODI Series with an 8-wicket triumph. Skipper Rohit Sharma smashed a terrific half-century where he looked in complete control of the 109-run chase.

Not many would have such a batting performance from the mighty Black Caps after a close 1st ODI match where they almost pulled off a heist. The likes of Henry Nicholls & Tom Latham should have taken the responsibility of taking the team out of the trouble.

Irfan Pathan on Rohit Sharma

Irfan Pathan was having an interaction with Star Sports and was asked about Rohit Sharma. “I am repeatedly saying that you shouldn’t worry too much about Rohit Sharma’s form at all. This was his first half-century while chasing against New Zealand and it came at the right time,” said Irfan Pathan.

“He made only one mistake when the ball hit his pads, there was an lbw appeal, they wanted to take the DRS but didn’t take it. But other than that, he looked in complete control, we saw amazing shots, on the up on the offside and the leg side,” he added.

Irfan Pathan on Conditions

Irfan Pathan was asked about Rohit Sharma’s approach & conditions during the run chase. “The conditions were not easy, they were slightly difficult. The ball was moving a little under the lights. The scoreboard pressure was not there but he had to go close to a half-century,” said Irfan Pathan.

“That milestone has come and if he gets an opportunity going forward, he will make the milestone even bigger because he is batting extremely well. The problem is that when you are chasing a low score, you try to hit from the first ball. That was not the case. He respected the conditions and then played his favourite shots once he got set,” he added.
