IND vs NZ: Irfan Pathan Praises Shubman Gill For Playing With Commitment in 2nd ODI

Cricketer turned commentator Irfan Pathan praised Shubman Gill for his commitment in IND vs NZ 2nd ODI. Irfan Pathan said that Shubman Gill showed commitment in the 2nd ODI and played normal cricket and forgot his double ton.

Shubman Gill scored a double-century in IND vs NZ 1st ODI. In the 2nd ODI, India needed to chase just 109 for victory. Gill batted patiently and scored unbeaten 40 runs off 53 balls to help India chase the target with ease. He understood the situation well and batted accordingly.

Shubman Gill Didn’t Go Towards Any Flamboyance: Irfan Pathan

While speaking to Star Sports, Irfan Pathan lauded Gill for his knock in IND vs NZ 2nd ODI. He said that youngsters often show overaggression at times but Gill didn’t go towards any such flamboyance.

“Shubman Gill – it was very good to see the commitment after having scored a double hundred. Youngsters try to show overaggression at times, go too far ahead and make mistakes, but he didn’t go towards any such flamboyance. He played normal cricket. We got to see crisp shots on the up and he tried to bat with full commitment. It was a very good thing that he forgot the double hundred,” Irfan Pathan said.

In IND vs NZ 2nd ODI, India opted to bowl first and bundled out New Zealand for just 108 in the 1st innings. Later, India chased down the target by 8 wickets. Shubman Gill scored unbeaten 40 runs off 53 balls in the match.

In the earlier game, the right-handed batsman scored a double century of 208 runs. With 248 runs in two games, Gill is the top run-getter in the series. He has already played two good knocks and if he bats well in the 3rd ODI as well, he might win the man of the series award. IND vs NZ 3rd ODI takes place on January 24 in Indore.
