Shubman Gill has made sure he is a regular component of the team ever since he returned to the ODI squad in 2022. A few months before the 2023 ODI World Cup, Team India made the brave choice to replace experienced batsman Shikhar Dhawan in the 50-over format as a result of Gill’s outstanding play.

In the first game of the series against New Zealand on Wednesday (18 January), the opening batter for India made history by becoming the fifth Indian to achieve a double century in the format.
