New Zealand Cricket Team won the toss and asked India to bat first. New Zealand made one tactical change as they dropped Henry Shipley and included Jacob Duffy. India on the other side rested Shami & Siraj and brought back Umran Malik & Yuzvendra Chahal as the team has taken a bold decision to play with 3 spinners.
Skipper Rohit Sharma struck a thunderstorm century and it looked like he was on a mission. The right-handed batter smashed his 30th century and ended the drought of 3 years. The batter got ample support from Shubman Gill as he was whacking the bowlers all around the park.
Michael Bracewell Dismisses Rohit Sharma
At the end of 25 overs, India’s score was 212 runs for the loss of no wickets where both Rohit & Shubman had smashed centuries. Michael Bracewell was given the 26th over and on the very first ball of the over, Bracewell cleaned up Rohit where the ball kept a bit low and thrashed his stumps.
Crucial Phase for New Zealand
New Zealand would be well aware of the fact that they are going to chase a mammoth target in excess of 350 runs. The Kiwis should keep on picking up wickers if they don’t want to chase in excess 400 as India has got the services of Hardik Pandya & Suryakumar Yadav who could play handy knocks for the team.
India on the other end need to make the most of this start as we don’t see teams scoring 200 runs in half way stage. The Men in Blue should not take Black Caps lightly as a couple of wickets can change the complexion of the match. It would be interesting to see how the innings pans out for India where we can expect a high scoring thriller.
