Umran Malik shattered Bracewell’s stumps, and the bails sailed over the heads of keeper Ishan Kishan and slip-fielder Suryakumar Yadav to fall way outside the 30-yard circle during India’s 3rd T20I against New Zealand in Ahmedabad.

In the previous decade and a half, India’s fast bowling unit has seen a sea change. They currently have a stronger bench in terms of pace fowling than spinners.

Despite all of this, whenever Umran Malik has the ball in his grasp, a different kind of excitement arises. The explanation for that is simple to come up with. His face is on it. Umran is the first Indian bowler to routinely bowl at speeds over 150 km/h on the international stage.

The third T20I against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which would decide the series, saw him repeat the action. In the third ball of the fifth over of the visitor’s chase, Umran Malik—the Indian pacer with the quickest delivery record—victoriously removed New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell.

The right-arm bowler from Jammu began his spell with a wide yorker traveling at 148.6 km/h that Bracewell was unable to bat down. The left-hander attempted to sprint down the track and throw Umran over the top a few balls later, but he utterly missed the 150 km/h delivery.

The bails sailed over the heads of slip-fielder Suryakumar Yadav and keeper Ishan Kishan to drop well beyond the 30-yard line as the ball rattled off his stumps.

Umran also dismissed New Zealand’s leading scorer Daryl Mitchell (35) to complete the match and finish with stats of 2 for 9.

The top bowler for India was captain Hardik Pandya, who finished with figures of 4/16 in his four overs. The New Zealand hitters appeared to be batting on a different wicket. They failed to reach their third-lowest total after being bowled out for 66 while chasing 235 for victory in just 12.1 overs. India won the game by 168 runs, their largest margin in T20Is, to win the series 2-1.
