Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav had a fantastic run in T20Is over the last year and became one of the most important players in the team. He has established himself in the shorter format, but could not replicate his success in one-day internationals (ODI). Former selector Saba Karim believes that Suryakumar needed some time to adjust to the 50-over format.
The 32-year-old was not a regular member of India’s ODI batting line-up and got the chance to play in the three-match ODI series against New Zealand in the absence of Shreyas Iyer, who was ruled out due to a back injury. The right-handed batsman failed to grab the opportunity and scored 45 runs. Surya managed to score 14, 31, and 4 runs in his last three ODI innings.

He Is An Invaluable Player – Saba Karim
Speaking on India News, Saba Karim advised Suryakumar Yadav to discuss with captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid to gain more clarity about his batting in the ODI format.

“This is not the first time. Previously, when he got the opportunity to play in ODIs, he didn’t score as per expectations. I still think he is an invaluable player. Some players need some time to adjust. He should discuss this with Rohit Sharma and Rahul Dravid to gain more clarity,” Saba Karim said to India News.
The Mumbai batsman represented India in 20 matches in the 50-over format, scoring just 433 runs at a dismal average of 28.87, including two half-centuries with a best score of 64.
