In the third one-day international of the series on Tuesday, Team India defeated New Zealand with ease, winning by a score of 90 runs and securing a 3-0 series triumph. After two superb hundreds from Rohit Sharma (101) and Shubman Gill (112) helped the hosts record a massive 385/9 in 50 overs, the pair stitched a 212-run stand for the first wicket.

With Devon Conway batting 138 in reply, New Zealand could only total 295; for India, Shardul Thakur and Kuldeep Yadav each claimed three wickets.

For his outstanding performance in the three ODIs, Shubman Gill was voted the player of the series. He struck a magnificent double century (208 in the first game), an unbroken 40 in the second, and subsequently another hundred in Indore. He tied Pakistani skipper Babar Azam for the highest runs in a three-match bilateral ODI series with 360 runs in three games.

Shubman Gill And Rahul Dravid Engage In A Fun Interview

The BCCI uploaded a video of Shubman Gill and head coach Rahul Dravid discussing the team’s convincing victory after the third ODI victory. The relationship between the two dates back to 2017, when Dravid led Gill and the Indian Under-19 squad to the World Cup triumph in New Zealand. The kid served as the winning team’s vice-captain. Both have collaborated on projects during their various employments with India “A.”

Dravid, who has followed Gill’s cricket career carefully, praised the young India opener for his outstanding efforts with the senior squad as the two talked about Gill’s recent ODI exploits. Gill highlighted a specific gesture made at the venue for the third ODI – Holkar Stadium in Indore for Dravid towards the end of the video.

After the illustrious former Indian batter and captain, the dressing room at the Holkar Stadium in Indore was dedicated in 2015. “How does it feel to enter the dressing room with your name on it?” Gill asked Dravid on bcci.tv.

The head coach of Team India laughed and expressed his appreciation while also admitting that it was “embarrassing.”

“It feels good. You’re grateful for all the love I’ve received over the years from so many people. It’s a privilege to play this sport in this country. The love you receive is phenomenal and I was lucky to have the talent to play cricket and was able to do it for a long time,” Dravid said.

“I also feel a bit embarrassing at times as well. But you do feel very grateful,” Dravid further added.
