Family and Personal Life
Irfan Pathan was born on 27 October 1984 to Mehmood Khan Pathan and Samimbani Pathan in Baroda City in Gujarat. He grew up with his brother Yusuf Pathan and sister Shagufta Pathan.
Yusuf is also a former Indian player and Irfan and Yusuf are one of the rare brother pairs who played for the national side together. He married Safa Baig in February 2016, who is a model. The couple has two sons- Imran and Suleiman.
Early and Domestic Career
Irfan Pathan started his career under childhood coach Dutta Gaikwad. He broke into the Baroda Domestic team in December 1997. He went on to represent the side till 2017.
International Career
Irfan Pathan made his international debut in 2003 with a Test series against Australia. He went on to play 29 Tests for India till April 3, 2008. He grabbed a total of 100 wickets in 54 innings averaging 32+.
In 120 ODIs from 2004 to 2012, Pathan hunted 173 scalps at a decent average of 29+ and an economy of 5.27. He played a total of 24 T20Is where he captured 28 scalps at 8.03 economy.
He was also known as a powerful tailender batter who shattered quick runs down the order. Hence, he is often considered as a bowling all-rounder. Pathan also plays in Legends League for retired players where he has impressed with his batting and bowling.
IPL Carrer
Irfan Pathan was a well-known player in the Indian Premier League and played more than 100 games in the tournament. In 103 matches, he got 80 wickets at an economy of 7.78 and an average of 33.33.
Pathan was part of Kings XI Punjab in his debut season in 2008 and played for the same team till 2010. Later, he played for other teams like Delhi Daredevils, Sunrisers Hyderabad, Chennai Super Kings, Rising Pune Supergiants, and Gujarat Lions.
