"A champion of slower balls"- this is what we can call Mohit Sharma with his expertise with slower deliveries. Mohit Sharma is a former Indian cricketer who is active in IPL.
Mohit Sharma is a right-arm seamer. He was a crucial pacer during MS Dhoni's tenure and also played in the ICC T20 World Cup 2014 and ICC ODI World Cup 2015. Recently, he earned a lot of fame with his performance for Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023.
Early Life and Career
Mohit Sharma was born in Ballabhgarh City in Haryana on September 18, 1998, to Mahipal Sharma and Sunita Sharma. He married his girlfriend Shweta Sharma and has a son.
In 2011, Mohit Sharma was picked by the Haryana domestic team. After a couple of successful years in domestic cricket, he became a member of Chennai Super Kings in IPL. Sharma also won the purple cap in the 2014 season.
International Career
After his impressive show in domestic cricket, Mohit Sharma made his international debut in 2013 with an ODI against Zimbabwe. He won the Player of the Match award in his debut game.
In the next year, he also made his T20I debut. From 2014 to 2016, Sharma was quite active in the Indian team and also featured in T20 World Cup 2014 and ODI World Cup 2015.
However, he gradually lost his place in the national side to other pacers. His career could only comprise 26 ODIs and 4 T20I games.
IPL Career
Mohit Sharma entered the IPL in the 2013 season when Chennai Super Kings bought him into their squad. By winning the purple cap in the 2014 season, Sharma proved that he was an excellent seamer.
Later, from 2016 to 2018, Sharma was part of Punjab Kings. He played the 2019 season for CSK before turning towards Delhi Capitals in 2020. After missing a couple of seasons, Gujarat Titans picked him in 2023.
Mohit Sharma almost became a vanished figure from Indian cricket. However, he made a fabulous comeback in IPL 2023 with Gujarat Titans.
As the franchise ended as runners-up, Sharma ended as one of the top wicket-takers in the league. Currently, he is a crucial member of GT's bowling unit. However, his comeback to the national team is almost impossible.
