In a recently uploaded video by the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Rajasthan Royals (RR), all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja and teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi were present in the video where they discussed many things about the IPL and their daily lives, and also chose one batter each whom they would trust if their life was on the line.
The video was uploaded on Wednesday, June 29; however, it was shot during the IPL 2026. As Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was recently in Zimbabwe playing a three-match T20I series, Jadeja was on a break, and he will be seen in the upcoming Test series against Sri Lanka, which starts in August.
Ravindra Jadeja picks MS Dhoni, while Vaibhav Sooryavanshi picks his opening partner
Both the cricketers were asked about which batter they would have chosen if their lives were on the line. Jadeja was asked first, and he replied that former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni, and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi picked his Rajasthan Royals’ opening partner Yashasvi Jaiswal.
‘Jaddu, if your life is on the line, and you have to choose one batter to bat, who would it be?’ Jadeja said, “MS Dhoni.” Sooryavanshi was asked, ‘If you have to choose one batter to bat, and your life is on the line, who would it be?.’
Ravindra Jadeja, in between, said, “On Both of ends Sooryavanshi can play.” Then Sooryavanshi replied, “No, I'll tell you. If I don't want to get out all day, I'll go for Yash Bhaiya (Yashasvi Jaiswal).”
Ravindra Jadeja bond with MS Dhoni
Ravindra Jadeja shares a special bond with MS Dhoni as the two cricketers have spent nearly the peak of their careers playing together for the India National Cricket Team and also Chennai Super Kings in IPL.
They have together won 3 IPL trophies with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2018, 2021, and 2023, and in all, Dhoni was his captain. In the 2023 season, when he hit a 6 and 4 off the final two balls against the Gujarat Titans in the final, Dhoni lifted Ravindra Jadeja up and hugged him, and they shared an emotional moment.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal brotherly bond
On the other hand, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Yashasvi Jaiswal also share a similar elder-and-younger-brother bond. The 15-year-old boy wonder first played an IPL match when he was 14 years old. Jaiswal was then a young budding cricketer for India who had already made his debut in the Test format.
Jaiswal and Sooryavanshi complement each other post the teenage wonder’s debut in the IPL. They have powered Rajasthan Royals through many good opening partnerships, which have been crucial for the franchise to win matches. They also became the fastest Indian pair to cross 500 partnership runs in IPL history by ball count during a 2026 match against GT.
The two flamboyant openers surpassed the previous record set by Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag, who had accomplished the same feat in 309 balls. This demonstrated the Rajasthan openers' aggressive and fearless attitude to batting together.
