Tilak Varma is an Indian cricketer who plays for Team India in international cricket. In domestic cricket, he represents Hyderabad while in the Indian Premier League, he plies his trade for Mumbai Indians.

Before impressing in the IPL from 2022, Varma impressed in domestic cricket. Even before representing India in the 2020 Under-19 World Cup, he had made his first-class debut for Hyderabad in the 2018-19 season.

In the 2021-22 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, he was the second-highest run-scorer, scoring 215 runs in seven innings at a strike-rate of almost 150.

Ahead of IPL 2022, he was bought by Mumbai Indians. In 2023, he also made his debut for Team India. Varma has played 4 ODIs and 16 T20Is for Team India so far.

Such was his performance in his debut season that India captain and the-then Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma proclaimed he would be an all-format player for India.

Varma played in all the 14 games for Mumbai Indians in 2022 and was one of the very few positives in an otherwise dismal campaign for the five-time IPL champions.

He scored an impressive 397 runs at an average of 36.09 and a strike rate of 131.02. Varma impressed one and all with his shot making, technique and temperament.

His performance in IPL 2023 was impressive too. In 11 games, Varma scored 343 runs at an average of 42.87 and a strike rate of 164.11. The brilliant displays in the IPL paved the way for his maiden India call-up and he went on to make his debut during the tour of West Indies.

Varma lived up to the expectations in IPL 2024 as well. While Mumbai Indians once again struggled to do well, he managed to impress again.

For the first time in his IPL career, Varma crossed the 400-run mark. He finished IPL 2024 with 416 runs from 13 games with the help of three half-centuries.

Overall, Varma has played 54 games in three seasons of the IPL and has scored an impressive 1499 runs at an average of almost 38 and a strike rate of more than 145. He has also hit eight half-centuries in the tournament.
