No One Should Be Allowed To Taint Cricket And PSL Brand- Shahid Afridi On James Faulkner's Accusations
Former Pakistan cricketer Shahid Afridi expressed disappointment and anger at James Faulkner’s accusations regarding the pay dispute that has rocked the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Faulkner claimed that his contract hasn’t been honoured by Quetta Gladiators. He proceeded to quit the league and revealed the news to the public on Saturday afternoon. Soon after, the PSL began clarifying the situation, claiming that Faulkner has behaved poorly and that they have always upheld their contract terms.
Faulkner’s comments have been condemned by many, including Afridi. The former cricketer claimed that there has never been an issue with payment before and nobody should be allowed to make such baseless comments.
“Disappointed with @JamesFaulkner44 comments who reciprocated Pakistan’s hospitality&arrangements by levelling baseless allegations. We all have been treated with respect &never ever our payments have been delayed. No one should be allowed to taint cricket & the #HBLPSL brand,” Afridi wrote on his Twitter account.
James Faulkner’s allegations that Shahid Afridi responded to
Faulkner took to Twitter to state that he will be leaving the country after he didn’t receive his payment. However, PSL responded, asserting that 70% of the fees were paid in December 2021 to Faulkner’s UK account. He then changed banking details to an Australian account.
“1/2 I apologise to the Pakistan cricket fans. But unfortunately, I’ve had to withdraw from the last 2 matches and leave the @thePSLt20 due to the @TheRealPCB not honouring my contractual agreement/payments. I’ve been here the whole duration and they have continued to lie to me.”
“2/2 It hurts to leave as I wanted to help to get international cricket back in Pakistan as there is so much young talent and the fans are amazing. But the treatment I have received has been a disgrace from the @TheRealPCB and @thePSLt20 I’m sure you all understand my position,” Faulkner had tweeted.
