Peshawar Zalmi is currently at number five on the points table, having managed to register one win out of two matches. They dished out a winning performance against Quetta Gladiators in their first game but lost their next match at the hands of Islamabad United by 9 wickets.
The Zalmis batted first and managed to score 168 runs in the first innings. Islamabad United, in reply, chased down the score in 15.5 overs. Heading into their third game, Peshawar Zalmi would look to get back to winning ways. Here’s a look at our predicted playing XI of the Peshawar Zalmi for the match on Wednesday against Lahore Qalandars.
PES vs LAH: Peshawar Zalmi’s Predicted Playing XI Against Lahore Qalandars– Pakistan Super League 2022, Match 09
Openers: Hazratullah Zazai and Yasir Khan
Hazratullah Zazai has joined the team and is set to be available for the game on Wednesday. His inclusion should bolster Peshawar Zalmi’s batting unit. The southpaw is a powerful striker of the ball and the team would expect him to give a solid start in the powerplay. Yasir Khan should partner him as the second opener in the team. He looked solid during his 12-ball 30-run knock in his first game against Quetta Gladiators.
Middle-Order: Haider Ali, Hussain Talat, Shoaib Malik, Sherfane Rutherford
Quetta Gladiators have a solid batting unit. Haider Ali is a powerful striker of the ball but he is a bit short on confidence at the moment. The last game saw him hitting three boundaries but then got out, unfortunately.
Talat scored a wonderful half-century in the first game but couldn’t replicate that in the next. The middle-order needs to be a bit more consistent if they are to go deep into the tournament.
Shoaib Malik has looked positive in both the games and this is a piece of good news for the team. Sherfane Rutherford also played an outstanding knock in the last game and thus one can expect this team to post a good score in the next game.
All-rounders: Ben Cutting
Ben Cutting played a nice little cameo of 26 runs in 17 balls and stitched a crucial partnership with Sherfane Rutherford. He adds the required depth in the batting unit and also performs the role of the sixth bowler. Without a doubt, Ben Cutting is a valuable asset to the team and he is likely to be retained in the team.
Bowlers: Wahab Riaz, Amad Butt, Usman Qadir and Patrick Brown
The bowling unit succumbed to some serious ball striking by Paul Sterling and Alex Hales in the last game. None of the bowlers managed to pick a wicket in the last game. All of them went for runs. Wahab Riaz played his first match on Sunday and you expect to come up with better numbers on Wednesday.
Patrick Brown hasn’t lived up to his billing but you don’t have a lot of options who can replace him. Sohail Khan has leaked plenty of runs in the last two games. He is likely to be replaced with Amad Butt. Besides, Usman Qadir should complete the playing XI.
