Multan Sultans face off Quetta Gladiators in the seventh match of the Pakistan Super League 2022 on Monday at National Stadium in Karachi. Multan Sultans have been the best team so far in the tournament. They have managed to win both games played thus far.
Batting remains their strongest suit. Despite conceding a 206-run total against Lahore Qalandars in the last game, Multan Sultans managed to chase it down in 19.4 overs. Shan Masood and Mohammad Rizwan, once again, played two fantastic knocks under pressure. The duo stitched a 150-run partnership for the opening wicket and helped the team cross the finishing line.
Striking at 166, Masood scored 83 runs in just 50 deliveries, while M Rizwan scored 69 runs off 42 deliveries. Sohail Maqsood managed to score 20 runs in 17 deliveries but got out at a crucial stage during the chase. Multan wouldn’t have won had Khushdil Shah didn’t produce magic with the bat in the final. Needing 16 runs in the final over, he finished the game in just 4 deliveries and, thereby helped the team win the game in 19.4 overs.
Quetta Gladiators, on the other hand, are coming off a morale-boosting win and are likely to give a tough fight to the Lahore Qalandars. Riding on a five-wicket haul from Naseem Shah, Quetta Qalandars managed to bundle out Karachi Kings for just 113 runs.
Sohail Tanvir produced an outstanding opening spell as he picked the wicket of Sharjeel Khan and Joe Clarke in his second over of the innings. Naseem Shah then picked the important wickets of Lammonby, Nabi, and L Gregory to leave Karachi reeling at 46 for 6 inside the first 10 overs. He ended up picking five wickets for 20 runs in 3.3 overs and helped the team bundled out Karachi for a below-par score.
In response to the total, Ahsan Khan, once again, gave the team a brilliant start. He brought up his second consecutive half-century in the tournament, while Will Smeed contributed 30 off 35 balls. Later, Sarfaraz Ahmed played an unbeaten 9-ball 16-run cameo to guide the team to a comprehensive 8-wicket win.
