PSL 2022 kicks off with Multan Sultans taking on Karachi Kings in Karachi from January 27. The Sultans are the defending champions of the tournament having won the title in 2021. Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators face off in the second game on January 28.

The entire season of PSL 2022 will be played in Karachi and Lahore. Lahore will also host the final on February 27. Six teams will be playing 34 games between each other. Each team will face the other team twice in the league stages, and the top 4 teams at the end of group stages will proceed to the playoffs.

I am excited to join Quetta Gladiators, a side that has had a roller-coaster ride in the past few events despite winning the title in 2019. In my final PSL event, it will be my dream and wish to sign off with another PSL trophy after tasting success with Peshawar Zalmi in 2017,” Afridi had said.

Quetta Gladiators will be led by Sarfaraz Ahmed. Their premier all-rounder Shahid Afridi contracted the Covid virus ahead of their first game and has been asked to stay in isolation. He can play for the side only if he returns with a negative Test. In his absence, Jason Roy, James Vince and James Faulkner become the key players for the side along with the captain.

Peshawa, on the other hand, will be led by Wahab Riaz. Liam Livingstone, Shoaib Malik, Sherfane Rutherford along with Kamran Akmal and Ben Cutting are the key players from this team.
