Lahore Qalandars’ fast bowler Haris Rauf has been sidelined from the ninth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) due to injury. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to closely monitor Haris Rauf’s injury with the T20 World Cup 2024 approaching.
Haris Rauf sustained the injury during the match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Saturday, February 24. The tearaway fast bowler injured his right shoulder after awkwardly landing while attempting to take a catch.
In the closing moments of the game, Rauf made a spectacular catch at long-off to dismiss Hasan Ali. However, he landed awkwardly on his shoulder in the process. Later, Rauf was seen leaving the field with an elastic bandage wrapped around his injured right shoulder.

Following the incident, Haris Rauf underwent scans, and it was determined that he would need four to six weeks to recover. Consequently, he will be sidelined for the remainder of the PSL season due to a dislocated shoulder.
Haris Rauf performed well in the match, securing one wicket and conceding just 22 runs in his four-over quota. He dismissed Shoaib Malik, who scored 39 runs off 32 balls, including three fours. His efforts contributed to his team limiting the opposition to 143/6.
Despite Rauf’s performance, the Qalandars suffered a narrow defeat by two wickets in a thrilling encounter. This loss keeps them at the bottom of the points table. The Shaheen Afridi-led team has yet to secure a victory in the tournament, with a Net Run Rate of -0.557.

Deeply Saddened By Haris Rauf’s Injury – Shaheen Afridi
Lahore Qalandars’ captain, Shaheen Afridi, expressed deep sadness over Haris Rauf’s injury. He expressed confidence in the team’s ability to overcome challenges. Afridi wished Rauf a swift recovery and conveyed unwavering support during this difficult period.
“As a team, we are deeply saddened by Haris Rauf’s injury. It was painful to see him missing out as he’s been a pillar of strength for us, and his absence will be felt. In the face of adversity, we stand united, and I have full confidence that the team will rise to the occasion,” said Afridi, as quoted by cricketpakistan.com.
“It’s indeed a setback for the franchise, but he is also Pakistan’s main bowler, and with a lot of cricket coming up, a pragmatic approach was to give him maximum time to recover. Wishing him a speedy recovery, and we eagerly await his return to the field stronger than ever. Our thoughts and support are with him during this challenging time,” he added.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently terminated Rauf’s central contract following his withdrawal from the Test series against Australia. Additionally, the 30-year-old will not be granted an NOC to participate in foreign franchise T20 leagues until June 2024.
The Rawalpindi-born cricketer has been an integral part of the Pakistan T20 team in recent years. The pacer has represented the national side in 66 T20Is, claiming 90 wickets.
