"Mohammad Nawaz has not been able to perform" - Shan Masood's bold take on all-rounder's PSL 2024 performance 

Ahead of the Pakistan Super League 2024 match between Karachi Kings and Islamabad United, Kings skipper Shan Masood while speaking to the media stated that all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz will perform well in the coming matches.

Nawaz has managed to pick only 1 wicket in the current edition of the PSL at a horrible average of 56. The left-handed all-rounder has only scored 22 runs with the bat and has been a total flop in the tournament so far.

Karachi Kings are currently placed in the fourth spot of the Pakistan Super League 2024 points table and have won 2 games out of three. Kings would be looking forward to continuing their winning streak in the tournament when they take on Islamabad United in their next match.

Shan Masood said, “Mohammad Nawaz has not been able to perform according to his abilities and potential, but he has shown glimpses of his talent. We are expecting more from him as an all-rounder, and I am hopeful that he will perform at his best in the upcoming matches.”

Mohammad Nawaz has been out of form for a long time but has always been backed by the team management. Nawaz was the bowler who bowled the last over to Virat Kohli during the famous IND vs PAK T20 World Cup 2022 clash. Pakistan were in a winning position in that game, but the Indian batter showed his class at the right time and helped India win the game.

Getting back to the Karachi Kings, the Shan Masood-led side were able to gain a victory by 2 wickets in their previous game against the Lahore Qalandars, whereas they defeated Peshawar Zalmi by seven wickets in their second match of the tournament.

Karachi Kings consist of the likes of big names such as captain Shan Masood, veteran West Indies all-rounder Kieron Pollard, Shoaib Malik, Hasan Ali and Tabraiz Shamsi.

The bowling has been a major concern for Karachi in the ongoing edition of the tournament wherein they have failed to restrict teams to low scores. Kings have conceded more than 150 runs in their first three games so far wherein Mir Hamza has been their most successful bowler with six wickets from 3 games.

On the other hand, Karachi Kings have been a batting powerhouse in the tournament so far. The batters have been able to chase down totals with ease in the tournament so far. However, the team has not been dependent on the performance of a single batsman and every player is contributing to the win of the team.

Karachi Kings won the last Pakistan Super League title in the year 2020 when they defeated Lahore Qalandars in the final. Kings would be looking forward to repeating their heroics this season whereas, on the other hand, Lahore Qalandars, who are also the defending champions of the tournament have not played like champions so far.

Lahore Qalandars are currently placed at the bottom of the table and have lost four out of four games.
